The TVR has been tucked away for the winter over at the barn, but yesterday I decided that with the season opener at Burghley only 2 weeks away, it's time to get it back to the house for a service and a tidy up.
First, push the Chevy to the side...
Then I extract the TVR from it's corner, and put the Porsche inside.
Here's a thing. When I was driving the Porsche along there, I thinking (aye this is good this, bit different from a Range Rover, I like this. Then I drove the TVR back, via a place to buy oil but no filter, another place for a filter but no oil, and then dropping in to the man who is supposed to be mixing paint for the Chevy. The return journey was much more exciting, what a car this is!
So I spent most of today cleaning it up.
It's not finished yet but already it looks pretty good!
Still a few jobs to do, then a service (oh and check the brake pads...)

I really should be getting on with the Chevy, but I’m a bit discouraged by the problems getting matching paint. The guy from Thursday hasn’t come back to me yet.
On a brighter note, the new headlining has been despatched from Michigan and has reached the FedEx hub in Indianapolis, and is due for delivery next Monday. That might kick my arse back into gear…
In the meantime, the TVR is nice and clean, although I really should polish it one of these years. First though, it’s service time, especially since I didn’t service it last year because I hardly used it. The fuel filter is only 2 years old and so are the spark plugs, so I’m not expecting to have to replace those, so I bought oil and a filter and we’re ready to go!
I’m not going to explain this step-by-step because I’ve done that many times before. As well as the oil and filter change I check the car over - water levels, bearings, ball joints etc, exhaust leaks, brake and clutch systems and so on. Oh and brake pads obviously, you would have to be really stupid to forget to check those…
Then I tidy up a few cosmetic bits and pieces, and have a wee test drive to get everything up to temperature and make sure it’s all working. It seems to be!
There are still a couple of wee odds and ends to potter about with over the next couple of weeks, but it’s nearly there!
